VOLUNTEER INFO

We appreciate all the interest in people willing to volunteer in this effort.  Here are some ideas and concepts, in no particular order, of goals and procedures.  We encourage any additional ideas.

Most of the volunteer work will be manning booths.  Our "booth" will be a 2'x4' table with a banner running across the front and sides.  There will be fold-up seats and room for two volunteers
, along with a seat on the opposite side for people to fill out forms.  (We are in the process of designing the banner, approximate cost $150-$300)

Our method of operation will be low-impact, and non-invasive.  We assume we'll be at places as diverse as "Rhythm On The River" to community churches (these are typical places other VRD's have been requested for).  Volunteers (or Circulators) will remain seated to the greatest extent possible and not wave down or flag down passersby.  If they need to register, they'll come to us.

We expect some of our volunteers will be more involved with politics than the casual observer, and might be opinionated and/or partisan, which is fine, but it stops at the booth.  We are not pushing a particular affiliation or agenda - except the agenda of registering voters.

Circulators will not be paid based on the amount of applications they receive, that's a state law.  Circulator volunteers more than likely won't be paid at all, unless we get some unexpected infusion of donations, then an hourly rate could be arranged.  We will try to provide refreshments as much as possible.

We'd like all volunteers to wear a Vote Longmont shirt or at the very least a Vote Longmont button.  We are in the process of ordering a couple of t-shirts to let volunteers borrow, but volunteers also can order one of the more stylish designs at our Merchandise Store.  Rest assured, we're not trying to make money off of our volunteers, we're just trying to keep our costs down.

We will provide training, preferably in groups.  Expect it to take an hour or two.  This is required by state law, and there is a training completion form that must be signed and returned to the Secretary of State.  The training will cover all of the above, the other requirements to be a Circulator, and answer any other questions you may have.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!
